Alcohol can be measured in units
One Unit of alcohol is equivalent to:
- Half a pint (250ml) of average strength beer or lager (approx. alcohol 3-4% vol.)
- One glass (125ml) of wine (approx. alcohol 10% vol.)
- One measure (25ml) of spirits or fortified wine
Remember
Measures vary in different parts of Great Britain. The alcoholic strength of drinks
vary. The amount you pour at home may be more generous than what you would receive
in a bar.
Even pub measures may vary for certain drinks.
